ANURAN DE SILVA
“HONESTY AND OPENNESS IS ALWAYS THE FOUNDATION OF INSIGHTFUL DIALOGUE.” - BELL HOOKS
Anuran, who’s more than just their luscious locks of hair (thanks to Tongan coconut oil that they get from his mates Auntie) is all about empowering youth to create social change and to be their authentic selves.
Anuran originally hails from North Queensland, having grown up in the regional town of Mackay. He is deeply passionate about the issues of growing up in regional communities and how it affects youth mental health. In 2015, Anuran moved to Melbourne to study a Bachelor of Education at La Trobe University. Anuran loves everything about education and fostering healthy environments where young people can feel safe to discover their greatness. Before becoming a PROJECT ROCKIT presenter, Anuran previously worked at wine start up VinoMofo as a wine broker.
Outside of work, everything food and cooking is a huge passion for Anuran (if he were a recipe the three key ingredients would = love, empathy & resilience). Growing up he learnt how to cook from his mother and grandmother. Anuran loves cooking absolutely everything, although Sri Lankan food has a special place in his heart. He also loves using food as a vessel to explore culture.
