Avanthi provides support for the Schools Relationships team at PROJECT ROCKIT.
Avanthi arrived at PROJECT ROCKIT with over 4 years experience delivering respectful relationships workshops in Victoria’s western suburbs’ schools. At PROJECT ROCKIT, she gets to satisfy her curiosity and explore the behind-the-scenes making of a successful workshop!
Avanthi spent much of her high school years being socially and politically engaged in campaigns ranging from Indigenous land rights to marriage equality. Having first hand experience in the power of young people claiming their stake in the present and future, Avanthi believes that young people have the tenacity, curiosity, and hope to build a fairer and compassionate society. It’s just the skills, strategies, languages, and networks that need to be shared to harness this power!
When she’s not at PROJECT ROCKIT HQ, Avanthi studies to become a veterinarian and organises on issues of intimate partner violence prevention and response through a transformative justice framework. She has a passion to learn how to grow solidarity between her Sri Lankan community and First Nations people, and exploring a more socially engaged Buddhism.
