Our Story
PROJECT ROCKIT began in 2006, when sisters Rosie and Lucy Thomas were high school students frustrated by the way bullying was being talked about. Young people were being told to “just ignore it,” “walk away” or “turn off your device”, without being given much opportunity to shape the solution themselves.
So they created something different: a space where young people could talk openly about the issues affecting them, listen to each other and discover that they had the power to make a difference.
What started as a handful of school workshops has grown into a national movement.
Today, PROJECT ROCKIT works with schools, young people, educators and partners across Australia, reaching more than 1 million students through our school programs.

Our approach
We believe young people shouldn't just be included in conversations about their lives. They should help shape them.
Young people bring insight, creativity and lived experience that adults can't replicate. Our role is not to speak for young people, but to create the spaces, relationships and opportunities that help them find their voice and use it.
That means listening to young people, learning alongside them and turning ideas into action. Through peer connection, education, storytelling and youth-led initiatives, we help young people build the confidence and agency to challenge what isn't working, stand up for others and shape what comes next.
We believe kindness is a strength. Difference makes communities stronger. Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard and like they belong.
We don't speak for young people. We create the conditions for them to speak for themselves.
