Frequently Asked Questions

75 minutes is a long time for our students to focus. How do you make it interactive? Can we make it shorter?

Workshops cannot be reduced in time.

Our workshops involve a variety of interactive moments that allow students to move around and talk to their peers. We also incorporate several brain-breaks to break up content delivery, and can add extra breaks upon request.

Given the discussion-based nature of the workshops, we recommend smaller groups so all students have an opportunity to interact and participate actively.

In light of the social media ban, how do you discuss online issues?

PROJECT ROCKIT takes a strengths based approach to speaking about technology, recognising it is an important part of young people’s lives. We spark conversations to understand the cohort's usage level of online applications, and orient the conversation around their reality.

We recognise that the social media ban has its pros and cons, overall positioning ourselves in early intervention education to ensure young people stay educated and informed about how to safely navigate challenging online spaces.

Is there reference to gender or sexuality in your workshops?

Our workshops do not discuss those topics specifically. In some of our workshops, sexual preference and gender identity are briefly mentioned as possible reasons some people experience bullying behaviour.

However, our workshops focus entirely on the barriers to standing up to bullying and strategies to overcome these, rather than any specific reason a particular person would be targeted.

Our presenters do not intentionally facilitate discussions on these topics. However, as I'm sure you can understand, if students raise these topics, we are obligated to address them with sensitivity and support.

PROJECT ROCKIT proudly creates spaces where every young person can be welcomed and celebrated, including our staff that are of diverse gender identities and sexualities.

What kind of venue space do you require?

What is your recommended student number?

This is dependent on the workshop, varying from 20 - 250. Your School Engagement Coordinator will direct you on our recommendations, depending on your context. Generally, the smaller the group size, the more impactful the workshop as it increases safety to share their voice in discussions.

How many presenters come out?

Each session requires one team which has two presenters.

Where are you based, and do you travel regionally/interstate?

We are based in Melbourne, but we can travel regionally and interstate. This will be priced accordingly.
