This artwork is called 'Holding Back' and is based on how [not always] culture can actually drag you down in a sense. This is shown by the multiple coloured hands, symbolising the main cultures that contribute to this factor, seemingly holding back the grey hand, symbolising anyone, that is reaching for [symbolic] freedom, the more ethereal and transparent hand. The main reason for this artwork is to personify the growing restraints of some cultures upon their children.

The idea that they are not enough, worthless, useless, can be implemented physically or even mentally in the form of degradation. To more in depth analyse the piece, if you look closely all the hands, while trying to stop the grey hand, seem to be reaching up too.

This was made to showcase that in the endeavours of gaining freedom, they are holding themselves back.
